A bit of romance with 14 magical days in North Vietnam! The many delights of North Vietnam are offered to you and the stay combines relaxation and adventure, mountains and sea, unmissable and secret places. A journey full of flavors and surprises! Off the trails, discover sumptuous places in the heart of local life and rural Vietnam.

First of all with the Tay Phuong pagoda, haven of peace and love of architecture. Then, a bit of craftsmanship in the silk village, filled with colors to delight the eyes. Experience the night train up to the northern mountains and more particularly in the district of Tam Duong in the province Lai Chau. Perched in the mountain, the landscapes appear as a work of art and realistic paintings. The locals, the Dao with flat hats, are exceptionally friendly and particularly welcoming.

To go down, take the road to Tu Le, a charming rural town. You will take the time to stop on the Khau Pha pass (the photographers’ road) to admire the rice fields. Then, departure for the national park of Xuan Son, very little frequented by international tourism. However, it is endowed with major natural assets. A connection with the green nature of Vietnam before visiting the north of the black river in Da Bac where the minorities live in perfect harmony with their environment.

To continue this delicious stay, you will go to the ¨Pu Luong Nature Reserve, also called the “Little SAPA” for its landscapes of rice terraces descending the mountain formations. Then departure for the UNESCO sites and the magnificent sites of Halong Bay on land, Ninh Binh and the magical bay of Lan Ha for a breathtaking cruise on a traditional junk.

  • Arrival at the airport, welcome and transfer to your hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight.

  • duong-lam_smallDepart early in the morning to drive to the local Ngoc Ha market, known for its early morning bustle. Short stop at Lake B52 to have a fresh fruit juice and learn about the history of this plane wreckage that springs from the water, a remnant of the war with the Americans. We then stroll through the alleys that make the charm of Hanoi, we discover a lively and hidden local life. The walk takes us to the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, a sacred place in Vietnam. It's time to gather strength while enjoying a local lunch. We will then go to the village of Tay Phuong , one hour from Hanoi. Just as charming as the famous village of Duong Lam , Tay Phuong also has centuries-old houses with these tiled roofs. We discover a charming village and ancient pagodas. We then jump on a bike for a little tour in the countryside and soak up the peaceful atmosphere that reigns there. On the return to Hanoi, we will stop at the silk village, Van Phuc for some shopping and to see the fruits of local crafts. Once in Hanoi, relax with a foot massage. The local dinner will be taken at the Song cafe where it is also possible to take a shower. It will be time to go to Hanoi station to take a sleeper train to Lao Cai.
  • Day 3 > Lao Cai – Si Thau Chai
  • tam-coc_smallEarly arrival at Lao Cai train station, time for breakfast before boarding the car to Si Thau Chai, Lai Chau province. A small perched village, it is inhabited by the Dao with flat hats. It enjoys a magnificent view, ideal for both sunrise and sunset. Arrived at the village, welcomed by the hosts, we put down our belongings and we go to the jungle bordering the village to learn about the benefits and the use of plants within the community. Lunch will be with the family. In the afternoon, pleasant walk along the mountain, with a superb view, to the waterfall of Tac Tinh . Magnificent waterfall where you can relax or swim if the heart takes you. It will be time to return to the village for a Dao-style herbal foot bath. You can then join the family in concocting a local dinner before sharing it together. Quiet night.
  • Day 4 > Si Thau Chai – Ban Bo – Tan Uyen – La Pan tan
  • Get up early to go to the viewpoint for the sunrise where breakfast will be served. It will then be time to return to the homestay to say goodbye to the hosts and get in the car towards the village of Ban Bo. Village bordering the river and inhabited by the Tay minority, you can admire the magnificent bamboo water mills (depending on the season) and visit this traditional village. We will take the road again towards the Tan Uyen tea farm where we will have a tea tasting before having lunch. The road will continue to La Pan Tan, a village next to Mu Cang Chai, less touristy and offering an equally beautiful view. You will have free time to relax or stroll around before having dinner and enjoying a quiet evening and night
  • Day 5 >La Pan Tan – Tu Le
  • Calm early morning to walk with the guide around the homestay and learn about local life. The view is surprising, the rice terraces are endless like in a painting, an idyllic spectacle. After lunch, depart for a local afternoon participating in daily activities. Depending on the season, you can indulge in the pleasure of working in the rice fields (ploughing, planting, harvesting) or learn how to make rice alcohol. It will be time to get in the car to take the magnificent Khau Pha pass , better known as the photographers' route, one of the most beautiful passes in Vietnam. We will arrive at the hotel Le Champ, in Tu Le, for dinner and spend a comfortable night there.
  • Day 6 > Tu Le
  • In the morning, walk around the homestay to visit the countryside and contemplate local life. We will stop at the local market to buy provisions before going to a family to cook and have lunch with them. In the afternoon, introduction to local fishing, it is also the time to discuss and learn about local life. Back at the hotel to enjoy the hot springs and relax, we will then go to the meeting place for an outdoor BBQ with a campfire. Peaceful night at the hotel.

  • Early departure after breakfast for Da Bac, Hoa Province Binh north of Hoa Lake Binh . Arrival on site, after installation in the homestay , it is time to have a local lunch. The afternoon will be devoted to visiting the surrounding villages such as Ban Sung. Discover the surprising traditions of the locals, the Dao, and integrate their rhythm of life. In the evening, dinner with the family and a quiet night.
  • Day 9 > Da Bac – Mai Chau
  • The next stop takes you to Mai Chau. A little more famous and touristic site, you will stay at the Mai Chau Hideaway to stay calm and enjoy the fresh air from the lake. After check in and lunch, you will take the bike to visit the surroundings. The walk leads to the Mai Chau valley. You can see the Tay sew in the traditional way, visit one of their traditional house on stilts. On the way back, short stop (depending on the season) at the Go Lao waterfall. Very beautiful waterfall where it is possible to swim. Return to the hotel for dinner and attend a dance performance.
  • Day 10 > Mai Chau – Pu Luong
  • In the morning, you will go exploring on the lake aboard a kayak. Take a leisurely stroll at your own pace to enjoy the view, the hills encircling the lake and the morning mist bringing a mystical atmosphere to the place. Back at the hotel to relax, you will take the road to the Pu Luong Nature Reserve, which is called the little Sapa. The view on the road is superb and we cross traditional villages until we arrive at the Pu Luong Eco Garden. You will be served a hearty lunch to be ready to walk to the hidden village of Kho Muong. On the way, you will follow very beautiful terraced rice fields, until you arrive at the viewpoint over the village and its valley. Arriving in the village, you will go to the bat cave which can be visited if the weather permits. Back at the hotel, a herbal bath will be waiting for you at the Spa to relax. Dinner will be served in the restaurant.
  • Day 11 > Pu Luong – Ninh Binh
  • The morning will take you to another hidden village, Hieu . Still located in the Pu Luong Reserve, this charming village inhabited by the Black Tay is a haven of peace. The car will drop you off after the village of Pho Doan (which hosts a local market on Thursday and Sunday mornings) to begin a trek through the jungle passing through small hamlets. You will arrive by the northern part of the village which offers a very beautiful view. Once in the village, you can visit the Hieu waterfall which runs along the village, you can do a water walk if the level is not too high, superb. You will have lunch at a nearby homestay to sample local dishes. After a relaxing time to stroll around the village or take a nap, you will get back in the car to drive to Halong Bay on land, Ninh Binh . Once there and after check-in, you will have dinner and enjoy the place.
  • Day 12 > Ninh Binh
  • Located in Tam Coc, the place is ideal for cycling in the middle of the rice fields passing through small local villages. The ride first takes you to Tam Coc for a sampan (traditional boat) ride where you will navigate a meandering river between karst peaks. Admire the boatman rowing with her feet and try the adventure. After the ride which lasts about 1h30, you will get back on your bike to go to the Mua cave. You can visit the cave but the main interest is to climb the steps to the dragon temple to admire the magnificent view of the rice fields, the karst peaks and the river. The climb is quite steep but the reward is great once at the top. On the way back, stop in a local restaurant to taste the local speciality, the goat that we eat with all the sauces (steamed, fried, grilled…). Back at the hotel, departure by car to visit the ancient imperial city Hoa Lu to learn about the history of the ancient capital of Vietnam. After this historic break, cultural tour to the village of Gia Thuy for a pottery workshop and then direction Phu Luoc to the village of carpenters to admire their know-how. Return to the hotel for a meal and a quiet night.
  • Day 13 > Ninh Binh – Halong Bay
  • After breakfast, transfer to the pontoon in Halong . You will be transferred to the main boat to start the cruise to Lan Ha Bay. Lunch will be served as the boat leisurely sails through the calm waters. The show is dazzling both for the beauty of the karst peaks jutting out of the water and for the color of the sea. You will drop anchor for the first time for the first activities (depending on the cruise chosen). Back on the boat to enjoy a cocktail or a massage, the junk will sail to its home base for the night. Dinner served on board and quiet night lulled by the waves.
  • Day 14 > Halong Bay – Hanoi
  • The cruise continues for other activities in the morning until mid-morning. Opportunity to practice a Tai Chi class on the pontoon at dawn. The boat will return quietly, while a brunch will be served to you, to the port of Halong from where you will be taken care of for the return shuttle to Hanoi. Depending on your program, transfer to the airport or to the Song café for a departure dinner with the Song Voyages team
