Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi and departure for the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. Arrive for lunch and check-in. In the afternoon, hike to the picturesque village of Kho Muong. Lost in the valley, the views on the way are magnificent. Arrived at the village, you will sink into the valley to reach the bat cave (possibility to visit it depending on weather conditions). Quiet return to the hotel for a quiet evening and night in the reserve.
At dawn, breakfast and departure for an exceptional adventure in the Pu Luong jungle. The first part of the trek is dedicated to the climb. Superb landscapes are available to you to contemplate the mountains, the rice fields and the village of Don. Along the way and depending on the season, you will collect plants that will be used to prepare lunch. Arrived at the first stop, you will participate in the preparation of the wood fire and the food. You can follow the local guide for a crab hunt under the rocks and various insects in the river. You will discover bamboo cooking which gives a particular taste to food. After this wild picnic, relaxation break and preparation of the camp for the night. The rest of the day will be devoted to interacting with the local Thai guides and discovering the surrounding jungle.
In the early morning and after a “jungle” breakfast, the hike resumes to reach the bamboo forest. Follow the guide carefully, it covers square kilometres. On the way, picking jungle products that will be used to make lunch and dinner (vegetables, plants, roots, mushrooms, honey, etc.). Lunch will be taken en route. In the afternoon, the road resumes until the camp at night. A rustic bamboo house with a mosquito net will act as a shelter. The evening will be spent around the campfire with a “Thai” dinner. Quiet night lulled by the sounds of the jungle, an unforgettable experience.
At dawn, the hike starts again to reach the summit of Pu Luong mountain. On the way, the collection of ingredients continues for the last lunch in the jungle, at the top. Campfire on the “roof” of Pu Luong for a picnic over a wood fire. Souvenir photo session on the mountain viewpoint. Siesta or relaxation before beginning the descent to return to the hotel. On the way, stop at a small waterfall to cool off and/or swim. Arrival in the middle of the afternoon where a good shower and a comfortable bungalow will be waiting for you to relax. Dinner and quiet night with the host.
After breakfast, transfer back to Hanoi and drop off at your hotel. (Possibility to have a transfer to Ninh Binh to continue your trip)
